Space to understand yourself more clearly

Change does not always begin with a major decision. Sometimes it begins by recognising something you have been doing for a long time without fully understanding why. Recurring self-doubt, the tendency to adapt to others or the feeling that you must constantly meet expectations can reveal a great deal about how you learned to view yourself and other people.

Here I share insights about identity, self-image, autonomy, boundaries, perfectionism and recurring patterns. The articles are intended to encourage reflection and give language to experiences that can sometimes be difficult to describe.

You do not need to recognise yourself in every article. Sometimes one sentence or a different way of looking at something is enough to begin creating movement.

Themes you can explore

Identity and self-image

Who are you when you are not continually trying to meet other people’s expectations? Articles within this theme explore self-image, insecurity, cultural identity and the development of a more grounded sense of who you are.

Boundaries and autonomy

Setting boundaries is not only about saying no. It also involves recognising your needs, managing guilt and learning to tolerate the possibility that someone else may feel disappointed.

Perfectionism and responsibility

High standards can help you achieve a great deal, but they can also make it feel as though nothing is ever enough. This theme explores the relationship between perfectionism, control, procrastination, overload and the fear of falling short.

Patterns and change

Many patterns originally developed for a good reason. Understanding the function a pattern has served can help you approach change with less judgement and greater freedom.
